First Peoples Principles of Learning

The First Peoples Principles of Learning are extremely important to me as a future educator. Throughout my Bachelor of Education degree, the FPPL’s have taught me that learning is holistic. All children learn in different ways and learning is not only about academic growth but social, emotional, and spiritual growth. I have learned the value of experiential learning through the FPPL’s. Students learn well in hands-on and land-based learning. The First Peoples Principles of Learning are important because all students can benefit from the First Peoples Principles of Learning, not just Indigenous students. FPPL aligns with inclusive learning especially, universal design of learning. The FPPL’s help classrooms lead into honouring all different ways of learning.
