The Professional Standards for BC Educators are important to me as a future educator because they provide clear expectations for ethical and professional conduct. Students, parents, and admin put a lot of trust into teachers to ensure the students receive a meaningful, inclusive, and fair education. It is important to maintain public trust and to demonstrate accountability to society. Teachers are a huge influence in students’ lives and it is important to be respectful and professional to everyone. It is important for educators to follow these professional standards and promote equity and diversity within the school community. Lastly, I appreciate the importance of professional development within this career and teachers are always learning how to help their students in a greater capacity.
